Hi guys,
Pagesetter 5...
Question about the 'to depot' function.... Firstly, i have no idea what it does, but it appears to eat my publications (can I get them back?)
Secondly, it appears that anyone who can submit articles ('Add' permission) can also delete them using this function. That's pretty unnerving, how do I stop it? It's crucial because ANYBODY on my site can submit articles, and I haven't yet had a chance to figure out this 'workflow' thing yet.
Cheers guys,
Chris

well user with Add Permission...it useful for a moderation...
you read the manul, there is a example.
Look to MyWiki Workflow.
Just make folowing:
- Create/Export Type News
- applay MyWiki Workflow for this type and check Edit Own
- set permission for user to Edit this PubType
Put the Link(you cam find it yout in manual "Links") to crate new News
Thats all.
Now user can edit/delete only own publication.
Registered user can put bublication, without approved from admin/Moderator
To customise the New/Edit Form look on the forum and manual
there is lot of discation about it

The "depot" is an "offline" storage of the old revisions of your publications. If enabled then Pagesetter will save a copy of the current publication and store it in the depot eveytime you edit it.
You can take publications in and out of the depot.
To show the "eaten" publications you can click "show all" in the filter header.

I used the depot option and it ate my news article too lol
It wouldn't show when I tried the filter showall just my other test articles,
I looked in the database for the pagesetter tables and in the table for the pub type and only my current articles show, I didn't find any other tables for depot? I think it permanently deletes them :o

I will be very surprised if you cannot find them.
The purpose for the depot is version control. When a publication type is NOT under version control and we delete a publication, it goes away forever.
However, by definition, anything under version control needs all versions tracked. So when we "delete" a publication that is under version control, Pagesetter removes it from view and moves it to the depot.
Any time you need it you can retrieve ANY version of a given publication. This is a very powerful feature. I just wish we could do diffs across the versions. Anybody want to tackle that one?
When you are administering your publications (url contains "func=publist"), you will see a "History" column. Click on that for the publication you are interested in and you should see all of the versions of it.
At that point you have three options:
View = self-explanatory but if you have a pop-up blocker active, it won't work.
To List = bring it back from the Depot to the publication list
Erase = Really get rid of it. Erase it from memory. Delete it from disk. Bye-bye.

I hit depot on the first article I put up cause i was curious what depot was and it dissappeared - the item was pid=0
I hit history on my 2nd article and it sent me to
http://dfwunderground.org/test/index.php?module=pagesetter&func=history&tid=1&pid=1
so I went to
http://dfwunderground.org/test/index.php?module=pagesetter&func=history&tid=1&pid=0
it doesn't show anything under revision history like it doesn't exist anymore. I see where my first article should be and I see the different section of it... I'm guessing the "to list" section if my article was there there'd be a link to brought it back from depot.... but I really think it got deleted when I click the depot button - it doesnt show in the database with the other pubs when searched for it with phpmyadmin. I don't really have a use for depot so I'm just gonna steer clear of it :) But just letting you know what I see

I have never seen a pid of zero before. I am not sure how that happened. That might be the issue. Sorry, I am not sure.
