    Hi,

Many thanks for a promising looking product.

    I have one problem though.
I'm not able to upload pictures
It starts uploading then it seems to timeout.
I've tried everything I could think of.

I use pn 0.723 and have safe mode off have all the graphics libraries installed.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hmmm ... interesting.

Is it a huge picture? Try some small pictures first.

Try another kind of image (PNG instead of GIF or so).

Check Photoshare admin settings - perhaps send me a screen dump of it.

I can't upload images either. After clicking submit, I receive a blank HTML page.

I have postnuke 0.723 and have chmod-ed the directories to 777 as well

I have seen that when using some GD functions that somehow doesn't exist. I have tried to detect which functions Photoshare have available, but perhaps not good enough.

It might just be because of a bad/very old installation og GD. If you have any influence on it then perhaps you could try upgrade your GD installation?

Besides that I don't have any ideas. Sorry.

The pictures I'm trying to post are well within the limit.

I tried a really smaill file and this is what I get.

Adding image friend.gif (199 bytes): The server does not support the image format 'GIF' %

I am using both My_eGallery and Gallery 1.3.3 and they work fine with the GD library that's on my machine.
Having said that I'm eager to give your program a good try cause what i've seen of it I would prefer it over Gallery .
    Thanks for your help.

Are you sure that the other two galleries uses GD - I thought they where using some other libraries?

The error message you get is because your GD don't have GIF support - I don't know any workarounds for that - except upgrading GD or compiling with GIF support (only loading of GIF's - not saving).

But where did your timeout problem go - that's what I was looking for ...

Sorry, you're right about Gallery it uses NetPBM.
But My_eGallery uses GD library.(I checked the config)
And both jpg and gif are accepted.

Now about what seems like a timeout. That happens only with jpg files.(no matter how small 10Kb)
First it starts uploading - The in progressbar at the bottom of the browser moves for a couple of seconds then the screen turns blank and the word done appears in the lower lefthand corner.

I checked the upload dir and it uploads cause the files are there.
It seems to go wrong when the file has to be translated from the uploaded file to the normal jpg file in the gallery dir.
Hope you can make sense out of this.
It also does not matter whether I save to database or to harddisk.

I'm going to delete everything and install it again from scratch. Maybe I did something wrong.

Hmmm ... sounds pretty much as if Photoshare uses a GD function unsupported by your GD installation. What happens is that after upload Photoshare calls some of the "image..." functions - if one of these don't exist then PHP just gives up without any error message or other indication of what went wrong.

I don't think you did anything wrong while installing Photoshare. I think it has more to do with your GD installation. I'll have to go through My_eGallery and see how it uses GD ... I suppose I have overlooked something.

Have you tried uploading a PNG file?

My php info files says I'm using gd library 1.6.5. php 4.1.2 and redhat linux 7.3

I am clueless on his one.

Again thanks for trying to help me out with this.

Exactly the same problem. I have tried 0.721 and 0.723 both locally and on remote Linux Server.
No error message, no nothing- just a blank page.

    Thanks, that was the answer.

My next problem is that when I use the disc storage, I can see a thumbnail but not the actual picture.
Database storage works fine. See both thumbnails and pictures.

I am gonna try to solve the disc storage problem with what I've read in the forum.

If that doesn't help I'll get back to you.

Thanks again 4 all the help.

    :D :P Everything's ok now.

Great product. Now I can play with it and if it fits all my needs (which i'm pretty sure of)
I will say goodbye to Gallery.
