I'm working on an education module for PostNuke called pnEducator (http://noc.postnuke.com/projects/pneducator) and would like to utilize Guppy to build my module's forms with. I've read J?rn's "Guppy Development" page at http://www.elfisk.dk/modules/pagesetter/docs/manual/Guppy_Development.html, but was wondering if any further documentation or support is available. I'm learning lots everyday, but am still enough of a newbie that I could really benefit from a step-by-step guide to Guppy implementation. Any help will be most appreciated!

I gather from the silence that my question is either out of place or out of the question! Since reading the README.TXT in guppy and seeing that it clearly states that guppy is not (yet!) ready to be used with anything but Pagesetter, I'm guessing the latter!

So... I was wondering if anyone out there might have any suggestions for form and menu building in PostNuke modules? The module I'm building is not that complex, but does have a lot of tables (60+) and relationships and doesn't therefore appear to be suited for treatment within Pagesetter itself.

I'm looking to be able to display data in both datasheet and form views and would very much like to be able to display related records in nested tables. Any help would be most appreciated!

I don't know if I understand you correctly, but you're planning to use guppy to build your own module within postnuke? If so then you should start by reading about the postnuke API on postnuke.com (a long read, but let's you use builtin functionality of postnuke when writing your own module). Also when you're building your own module it would be better to use the postnuke forum for support with this?

Some old modules which you might adopt / adapt or get you started:

Yes, my initial impression of guppy was that it did (or could) provide a mechanism to add some advanced gui functionality to any module (not just Pagesetter) without having to reinvent the wheel so to speak. To boot, to be able to reuse its capabilities on my site has the added bonus of maintaining a consistent look and feel for both the site's content management (I use Pagesetter and Photoshare exclusively for this) and its module-based application(s).

Though my PHP coding skills are improving daily, they're most definitely not yet at a level where I can just sit down and write code that will give me the same functionality as guppy already possesses. Generous and talented programmers such as yourself and others like you in the open source community are the kind of giants on whose shoulders I must stand to see my ambition become reality.

I do appreciate your advice, though. Next stop... pnForums!
