How do I display the approval state in my templates?

To be a little more specific, let's say a user edits their pub. I would like to have a way of informing them that their changes are under review so they don't keep on updating their pubs. multiple times b/c they don't see their changes instantly. b/t/w I'm using the standardupdateapprove workflow.
