I've just submitted a patch to Feature Requests that passes the topic information in $core.topic to the publist header, when it is filtered by topic. This was to emulate core News/Topic list.

I hope others find this useful.

Great patch! It works very well. Thanks very much, I was just looking for something to use topic references in header template

I've tryed to use you hack but it doesn't works with me.
I've installed the hack, used it like it's used in the exemple template but it displays nothing...
Is there something that I had forgot ?

When you say nothing - does it display a blank page like the program is broken, or just not the topic ?

Did you clear your cache ? That is the reason things normally haven't worked for me.

I have it in production here, and it evidently worked for one other person.

It doesn't display the topic text but the page is normally displayed.
I've cleared my cache and the problem is always here.
If your pnuser.php hasen't any other modifications, can you send me yours please ?
