Such a wonderful module, what am I doing wrong?

PN 764 on a remote LAMP server
GD enabled
max upload size 16M
Mediashare version 3.1.1 deu
Mediashare max single file upload size 1M
Mediashare max total upload storage 50M
browser Firefox or IE
media files on local file system
running a Xanthia theme

Media share is installed and running. Made an album. Added a file, a .gif image 185kb with Mediashare upload function. The .gif was uploaded by Mediashare, stored in the mediashare upload dir in three files; a .gif with 185kb, a .png with 185kb, and a .png with 12kb. When I call the album, I can see the image name (not file name with extension) as entered when I uploaded the image, with a border around the name. Downloaded the three images to my local machine with FTP and was able to display them locally. When I call the image with the browser, using the link direct to the image, I gen a not allowed.

ooppppps... upload dir permissions were set at 770. sorry about that. now it is fine!
