I'd like to use with pagesetter a multilevel category that can be used also to generate the menu and map the pubblications of the module.
The ideal categories implementation sould have an import/eport xml feature, ideally using a standard as Topic Map http://www.xml.…topicmaps.html implementation (as the xsiteable http://www.shel….nu/xsiteable/).

Personally I love the dmoz structure, expecially the possibility of implementing the @links inside a category (unix style).

You can see also this document that explain how to store in sql a multilevel category structure with a low query request for retrieving datas
    http://www.dbpd…11/kamfn.shtml

    this is another explanation
    http://searchda…537290,00.html

    this the php class

    this is another variant schema

Wow, very interesting stuff - the http://www.dbp…11/kamfn.shtml link was really an eye opener!

I'm in the middle of creating hierarchical categories, so just be patient. The XML export may take a while - may I ask what you would use it for?

Generating menus from categories is also on the list.

I alredy read that post but the forum don't let me to reply in.

xml eport and import could be used just for exchanging categories with other users and systems (exchange of web-links from users or importing categories structure from dmoz)

Or I can just create some standard xml files of possible categories that I can manage with unix shells to generate a proper specific site structure.

with many xml files from users of your module you can also put up a deep customizations o postnuke distributions (by topics, by usage...)

I think that one of the most important things that postnuke sites lacks is a project of how to publish the content in a smarty way. the distribution of xml ready-to-go structures could help much in this (assuming that people will use pagesetter for almost any kind of pubblications).
